The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for a fourth year.
Below are the candidates for the last two weeks of the boys basketball season. Voting will close Saturday, Friday, Jan. 10 at 11:59 P.M.
Because the two weeks are combined, there will be two winners for Week 2.
The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
- Jayce Gum, Princeton – Gum reached double figures three times, finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Mount Hope Christian.
- Thomas Jones, Oak Hill – Jones finished with 19 points in an overtime victory against James Monroe.
- Ryan Mann, James Monroe – Mann scored 21 points with 14 rebounds against Oak Hill.
- Jack Williams, Shady Spring – Williams averaged 22.3 ppg, scoring 20 against Beckley and 34 on the road against Bluefield.
- Jaylon Walton, Beckley – Walton was a walking double-double, averaging 17.6 ppg and 12.6 rebound per game during a 2-1 stretch.
- Keegan Davidson, Greater Beckley – Davidson scored 20 points in a win over Class AAA Lewis County with nine coming in the fourth quarter.
- M.J. Patton, Summit – Patton averaged 22 ppg over five games with a high of 32 points.
- Konnor Fox, Wyoming East – Fox scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to help Wyoming East upend Charleston Catholic. He also added eight points and a pair of dunks in a win over Westside.
- Trey Stump, Nicholas County – Stump averaged 21.3 ppg across three games for the Grizzles.
- Peyton Bailes, Midland Trail – Bailes notched 25 points for the Patriots.
- Liam Daniels, Liberty – Daniels scored 24 in a win over Midland Trail.
- Brody Hamric, Greenbrier East – Hamric scored 21 points as Greenbrier East earned a Ron win at Princeton.
- Brock Green, Independence – Green cored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a win at Summers County.
- Kyler Kenneda, Westside – Kenneda scored 11 points and stole five passes against West Logan Christian.
