Nicholas County ran out to a 12-point halftime lead and held on for a 55-49 win over Greater Beckley Christian Thursday.
Trey Stump led the Grizzlies with 14 points and Bryar Bailes added 13 points. Ethan Collins and Jaxson Morriston added eight points apiece.
John Rose led all scorers for the Crusaders with 25 points. Aaron Hall and Kash Hendrix scored six points each for Greater Beckley who hosts Mercer Christian Friday.
Nicholas County (1-) plays Nitro at W.Va. State Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

Pipestem – Mercer Christian knocked down 13 shots from behind the arc Thursday to blow past Pipestem Christian 75-41.
M.J. Patton nailed six 3-pointers and led the Cavaliers with 27 points. Sam Boothe hit three long balls and scored 20 points to go along with 12 rebounds and eight assists.
Shaye Basham added 10 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Chance Watkins scored nine and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Luke Rutherford led the Panthers with 15 points and Silas Mattox had 14 points.
Mercer Christian (5-2) travels to Greater Beckley Christian Friday.
