Shady Spring 100, Independence 42
Shady – Shady Spring began what it hopes is a fourth consecutive run to the Class AAA title game with a 100-42 win over Independence in the sectional opener Tuesday at Shady.
Ammar Maxwell led the assault with 26 points while Jack Williams netted 19. Gavin Davis and Jalon Bailey rounded out the top scorers with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Ashton Arthur led Indy with nine in the loss.
Shady will host PikeView Friday in the sectional title game.

Hico – PikeView used the third quarter to key an upset, upending Midland Trail 53-48 Tuesday in Hico.
PikeView outscored Trail 21-7 in the decisive quarter, pulling off the upset that ends Trail’s stellar season.
David Thomas led PikeView with 24 points in the win while Elijah Hall netted 12.
Payton Bailes and Thad Brown scored 16 each in Trail’s loss.
PikeView will travel to Shady Spring for the sectional title game on Tuesday.

Weston – Nicholas County never overcame a poor start, dropping 70-53 against Lewis County in the Class AA Region 3 Section 2 opener.
The Grizzlies managed just one point in the opening frame, playing from behind the rest of the way.
Isaiah Miner led Nicholas with 21 points in the loss while Trey Stump finished with 13.
Ben Putnam led Lewis County with 27 points in the win.

The Flying Eagles took a commanding first half lead and never looked back in a 72-43 win over Oak Hill in the opening round of Class AAAA Region 3, Section 2 play Tuesday.
Elijah Redfern had 18 points for Beckley, while Preston Clary scored 16 and Coby Dillon had 11. Drew Fitzwater chipped in eight points.
Noah McClung and Brent Conley each had 10 for the Red Devils.
Beckley will host Princeton Friday for the sectional championship game.
