WVCAT Boys Championship Game
Teays Valley Christian 69, Greater Beckley Christian 55
Summersville – Teays Valley Christian outscored Greater Beckley Christian in each of the first three quarters to capture the WVCAT Boys Championship by the margin of 69-55 Saturday night.
The Lions topped the Crusaders with a triple-threat attack led by Maki Cary with 21 points. Carter Richmond and Kahsi Morgan followed closely with 19 and 18 points, respectively.
Freshman Keegan Davidson had another big game for Greater Beckley scoring a game-high 26 points in the loss.
Averyk Woodson and Isaiah Kincaid scored eight points each for the Crusaders.
Cary, Richmond and Morgan joined Davidson and Kellen Heffernan (GBC) on the all-tournament team. Additional members were M.J. Patton (Mercer Christian), David Wiebe (Grace Christian), Josiah McKoy (Mount Hope Christian), along with Ashton Gute and Sam Mulanex from Cross Lanes Christian.
The 3rd-place game was another nail-biting heartbreaker for Mount Hope Christian who fell to Cross Lanes Christian 65-64.
Gute poured in 30 points for Cross Lanes, while Mulanex added 18 and Christian Shamblin scored 10 points.
McKoy led all scorers with 34 points for Mount Hope and Nolan Carney scored 15 points.
Grace Christian defeated Mercer Christian 70-50 in the 5th-place game behind a 28-point effort from Wiebe. Brady Johnston scored 15 points and Jonathan Holderby added 14 points in the win.
Isaac Sharp led the Cavaliers with 17 points, nine rebounds and three steals, while Eli Patton scored 12 and M.J. Patton had nine. Kyler Carpenter had 12 rebounds for MCA.
