Beckley 6, PikeView 0
The Flying Eagles erupted for five goals in the second half to defeat PikeView 6-0 Tuesday at Carter Foundation Field.
“Tonight I saw a team starting to come together and executing better,” Beckley head coach Steve Laraba said. “We created some chances tonight and scored some goals.”
Sophomore Coby Dillon scored the first goal of the match in the 37th minute with a shot inside the far post off an assists from senior Ishmael Fayaih.
The 1-0 lead stood through first 10 minutes of the second half before the dam finally broke for the home team.
Junior Tyler Snyder made it 2-0 in the 51st minute with a goal before senior Aiden Bell struck twice within two minutes making it a 4-0 game.
Freshman Alex Belcher added the final two goals, one on an assists from Fayaih in the 60th minute of play.
“PikeView had a game plan and it was to frustrate us by being compact and hard to score against. For the first half and a bit of the second half, they were that,” Laraba said. “They played their game very, very well. They made it hard on us. We scored some well worked goals and got a fortunate goal that worked out for us. I am happy with how we played tonight.”
Beckley (1-1) travels to Fairmont Senior Thursday before hosting Brooke Saturday at 1 p.m.
