Class AAAA No. 11 Beckley knocked off AAAA No. 9 George Washington (7-3) Friday night, 14-12 at Van Meter Stadium.
The Flying Eagles (6-4) took a 7-0 halftime lead on a Bryce Ford run in the second quarter. The Patriots then closed the deficit to one point late in the third quarter.
Beckley pushed the lead back out to 14-6 with just under two minutes on a one-yard plunge from Jacob Reeves. GW rallied to score with 30 seconds to play, but the could not convert on the two-point try to tie the game.
