Fairlea – With both teams seeking their first win of the season, allowing Mother Nature to decide the outcome of Friday’s game wasn’t an option.
With Bluefield leading 20-19 in the third quarter, lightning forced the Beavers’ matchup with Greenbrier East in Fairlea into a delay where it was eventually suspended until Monday.
The two teams will resume their game at 6 p.m., picking up at the 9:02 mark in the third quarter, where the game left off. It will be Greenbrier East ball at the Bluefield 17.
The Beavers fell behind 19-6 after Brody Hamric threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another but a kickoff return score from Josiah Campbell and a 74-yard touchdown pass from Sencere Fields to R.J. Hairston put the Beavers in front before the half.
