The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the second year.
Below are the candidates for the 10th week of the prep football season. Voting will close Monday at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
Here are your candidates
- Eli Allen, James Monroe – Allen caught four passes for 54 yards and a touchdown, adding an interception as well as Class A No. 2 James Monroe picked up a massive win over Class AA No. 12 Nicholas County.
- Grant Cochran, Princeton – Efficient again, Cochran completed 7 of 9 passes for 106 yards, tossing four touchdowns passes in a playoff clinching win over Greenbrier East. On defense he also forced a fumble.
- Judah Price, Independence – Price will need to win one of the Lootpress Foundation’s $500 scholarship after the season he’s had. The senior running back was forced to pony up donuts again, rushing 10 times for 226 yards and six touchdowns in a win over Wyoming East. More importantly he shattered the previous single-season scoring record of 276 points by pushing his season total to 300.
- Matt Moore, Beckley – Moore rushed 29 times – a school record – for 180 yards as Beckley secured a 21-7 win over rival Oak Hill Friday night.
- Adam Richmond, Shady Spring – Richmond made his final high school game one to remember against county foe Liberty. Richmond rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns in a 33-12 win over the Raiders.
- Dale Bledsoe, Westside – Bledsoe scored rushing touchdowns of 9, 9, 25, 20, 15 yards Friday as Westside picked up a 51-27 win over Mount View Friday night.
- Ty Nickell, Greenbrier West – Nickell rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown Friday as West dispatched for Midland d Trail 21-7 Friday night in Hico.
- Caleb Fuller, Bluefield – Fuller continued his hot streak as a runner Friday. The Bluefield QB ran for three touchdowns and threw for another as the Beavers handed Ridgeview, Va. its first loss of the season in a must-win game.
- Austin Shrewsbury, PikeView – Shrewsbury rans 10 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns as PikeView picked up a 26-12 victory at River View Friday.
