The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele has returned.
Below are the candidates for the fifth week of the prep football season. Voting will close Tuesday at 4 P.M. and be announced on the Lootpress Sports Lowdown show which can be seen here. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. Please read that sentence again. The poll determines the Community Choice winner and is used in the event of a tiebreaker. It DOES NOT determine the overall Player of the Week winner. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here.
The top overall vote getter will advance to our Community Choice poll at the end of the regular season where the winner of that poll will receive a $500 scholarship.
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
- Thad Brown, Midland Trail – Brown completed 14 of 16 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns, rushing for 52 yards and three more scores in a 46-20 victory over Summers County.
- Kalum Kiser, Princeton – Kiser racked up five sacks Saturday as Princeton claimed a 70-13 victory over Tazewell.
- Isaac Williams, Liberty – Williams married the ball 12 times for 128 yards and a score as Liberty rolled to a 48-6 win over Buffalo.
- Evan Vandall, Greenbrier West – Vandall ran the ball 35 times for 119 yards and three touchdowns as Greenbrier West secured a gutsy 19-12 victory over Man Friday.
- Cal Culicerto, Shady Spring – Culicerto completed 12 of 15 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns as Shady rolled to a 41-7 victory over PikeView.
