Seth – Ty Nickell had his best outing of the season, rushing 18 times for 267 yards and four scores in three quarters as Class A No. 14 Greenbrier West defeated Class A No. 11 Sherman 38-8 Friday evening in Seth.
The Cavs rolled from the start with Cole Vandall connecting with receiver Chase McClung on a 23-yard scoring strike to draw first blood.
Afterwards Nickell took over.
The junior running back scored on runs of 22, 57 and 78 yards to stake the Cavs to a 26-0 lead.
The shutout was nearly preserved but a late touchdown run by Sherman eradicated that possibility. Still, The Cavs happily left Boone County Friday with their sixth win of the season, one that will help improve their playoff positioning.
Greenbrier West moves to 6-2 and will host Midland Trail next week.
