Chamrco – Missed opportunities inside the 10 couple with six turnovers doomed No. 11 Greenbrier West as it lost an 18-14 thriller at home to No. 5 Mount View Friday evening in Charmco.
The Cavaliers came out blazing, taking a 14-0 lead on touchdowns runs of 7 and 26 yards, courtesy of Ty Nickell but the Golden Knights steadied the storm, scoring on a three-yard run by Thomas Bell just before the break.
The second half belonged entirely to the Golden Knights though.
Mount View QB Ryan Long found Jaylen Hall twice for 55-yard scoring strikes, the final coming with 6:09 left in the game.
For the game Nickell carried the ball 20 times for 97 yards and two scores. Long was 10-of-15 passing for 197 yards and two touchdowns  but was intercepted twice. Hall caught five passes for 153 yards and two scores. Bell led the Golden Knights in rushing with 20 carries for 147 yards.
Mount View finishes the regular season 9-1 and will likely have the opportunity to host two playoff games should it advance past the first round.
Greenbrier West finishes at 6-4 and will likely still make the playoffs as a lower seed.
