Clear Fork – After a quiet start to the season Cyrus Goodson found his opportunities and made the most of them.
Goodson hauled in two passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns and carried the ball once for 44 yards and another score as Independence improved to 5-0 with a 62-0 win over Westside Friday in Clear Fork.
Independence running back Judah Price turned 15 carries into 186 yards and three touchdowns, converting on five two-point conversions in the win while QB Trey Bowers was 4-of-4 passing for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Bowers also carried the ball nine times for 90 yards and another score.
The shutout was the fourth of the season for Indy which is yielding 1.6 points per game through five games.
The Patriots will aim for their sixth win next week when they host Bluefield in a. rematch of last year’s Class AA semifinal.
