Hinton – Sticking with the theme of its season, James Monroe was dominant on defense once again.
The Mavericks allowed just seven points Friday, beating Summers County 35-7 to cap a perfect 10-0 regular season.
It’s the sixth time in school history the Mavericks have finished the regular season without a loss.
Adding to the program’s rich history, this year’s squad also broke the record for fewest points allowed with 48, snapping the record set by the 2002 team of 53 points.
James Monroe capped its sixth undefeated regular season in school history Friday, joining the ‘98, ‘99, ‘02, ‘05 and ‘06 squads as the only others to accomplish that feat.
