Charleston – Senior quarterback Maddex McMillen and wide receiver Keynan Cook rewrote the Beckley football record book Friday night in a 48-35 loss as George Washington.
McMillen broke Phil Culicerto and Andrew Johnson’s record for career completions with 235 while Cook broke three records – the single-game catch and receiving yards records as well as the single-season reception record. The Georgetown commit caught 13 passes for 172 yards and caught his 38th ball of the season.
Despite those efforts the Flying Eagles came up short.
Even after getting a defensive touchdown in the opening minute, the Flying Eagles trailed by a score going into the break after a kickoff was returned for a touchdown with 43 seconds left in the first half
Another defensive touchdown tied the score for the Flying Eagles but three straight touchdowns for the Patriots put the nail in the coffin for the visitors.
Beckley drops to 2-5 and will host Oak Hill on Friday.
Congrats to @KeynanCook for breaking 3 records he had 13 catches tonight record was 10 by David Allen..broke single season receptions with 38 record held by Matt Morris..and had 172 yards receiving yard tonight old record was 170
