Fairlea – Robert C. Byrd’s all-state running back Jeremiah King ran for 330 yards and three touchdowns Friday as the Eagles defeated Greenbrier East 31-16 Friday night in Fairlea.
The Spartans got on the board courtesy of a 23-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Monquelle Davis to Lucas McCallister and took the lead on a Noah Dotson field goal near the end of the first quarter before hope faded.
An 81-yard touchdown run by King gave Byrd the lead with three seconds left in the first quarter and it never relinquished it.
In addition to his 81-yard jaunt, King scored on runs of 15 and 78 yards in the win.
Ian Cline accounted for the Spartans other touchdown of the evening.
