ELIZABETH – Reigning W.Va. Junior Amateur champion Savannah Hawkins fired a 4-under par, 68 Tuesday to win the West Virginia High School Girl’s Invitational played at Mingo Bottom Golf Club.
After making double-bogey on the fourth hole, Hawkins ran off three birdies over the next four holes for 35 on the front nine. She followed that up with three more birdies on the back nine to secure a two-shot victory over defending champion, Taylor Sargent from Cabell Midland.
Kerri-Anne Cook from Westside finished third and Brielle Milhoan from Parkersburg was fourth. Alley Denny from Woodrow Wilson finished in a tie for 12th.
Joining the top four on the All-tournament team were Emerson Simmons (Roane County), Aly Wellman (Wayne), Avery Fife (Ripley) and Samantha Colaw (Petersburg).
