Prep Soccer: Beckley's Wooton earns first-team honors; Agnor named Region 3 COTY

Beckley freshman midfielder Mya Wooton was named a first-team all-stater by the West Virginia High School Soccer Coaches Association Monday evening.

Wooton wasn’t the only Flying Eagle to earn all-state honors as teammates Sophia Hall and Sydney Vaught earned second-team honors. The final local player to earn all-state honors was Oak Hill’s Hannah White, who was also named a second-teamer.

Players weren’t the only ones recognized for their efforts. Beckley head coach Julie Agnor was recognized as the Region 3 Coach of the Year by her peers. Agnor, in her fourth season, led the Flying Eagles to a sectional title this past year, the first under her watch.

Ten area players also earned Region 3 first-team honors, including White, Wooton, Hall and Vaught.

Joining those four are another Flying Eagle in Ally Arthur, Princeton’s Sadie Boggess and Lauren Parish, Oak Hill’s Samiah Lynch and Greenbrier East’s Ashlee Thompson and Ryan White.
