Friday night at Van Meter Stadium former Beckley track and field standouts were honored and current stars were on display at the Pete Culicerto Hall of Fame Track Invitational.

When all of the points were tallied, it was a good night for the hosts on both the girls and boys side of the ledger.

The Beckley girls were 59 points better than second place Shady Spring, while the boys slipped past Oak Hill by seven points.

The Lady Flying Eagles were a strong favorite coming into the event and the Beckley girls were true to form.

Flying Eagle speedster Ama Ackon-Annan ran her best time of the year to win the 100-meter dash. Teammates Kyndall Ince and Salia Harris finished second and third, respectively.

Ackon-Annan also dominated the 200 meter dash winning by nearly a second and a half.

Beckley sophomore Bria Donatelli and senior Nevaiah Simmons picked up two individual wins Friday as well. Donatelli won the 400 meter and 800 meter runs with Simmons coming out on top in the 300 meter hurdles and the long jump.

Ince, Harris, Ackon-Annan combined with Donya Burton to dominate the 4×100 relay, while the top-three in the 100 meter dash joined Simmons for an easy win in the 4×200 meter relay.

Donatelli ran with Carley Fisher, Skyler Ren and Hannah Keiling for a six-second win in the 4×800 meter relay.

Beckley freshman Cadence Reid was two-foot better than all others to win the Shot Put.

State champion gymnast from Independence, Lilli Honaker, won the 100-meter hurdles in a tight race with Lillian Hatfield from Shady Spring. Honaker’s teammate Bella Green edged Leiloni Manns from Beckley by six inches to win the discus throw.

A pair of Richwood standouts picked up wins when Carlee Dillard won the high jump and Baylee Jarrett was first in the 1600 meter run.

Carli Spade from PikeView earned a convincing win in the 3200 meter run, while Kylie Wahl, Rachel Mann, Allison Betkijian and Hatfield earned the shuttle hurdle relay title for Shady Spring by edging Independence by two-tenths of a second.

On the boys side, Kennedy Award winner Dom Collins from Princeton was the fastest man of the night with wins in the 100- and 200-meter runs.

Collins also combined with Marquel Lowe, Brad Mosser and Jaden Helmandollar to win the 4×200 meter relay.

Beckley senior and Marshall commit, Ryan Mukhtar pulled off the double as well with wins in the high jump and the 110 meter hurdles.

Mukhtar’s teammates Nelson Staples and Brandon Canaday also picked up wins Friday.

Staples won the 300 meter hurdles, while Canaday, who is the reigning Lootpress Cross-Country Runner of the Year, laid waste to the 1600 meter field with a nearly 10-second win.

Conlan Brooks (Oak Hill) won the 400 meter run and Hank Marson (Bluefield) was first in the 800 meter run.

Gabriel Kidd, Konnor Ray, Daniel Walling and Christian Stewart gave Beckley the 4×100 meter title, while Andre Wright, Chase Crosier, James Green and Marc King from Oak Hill combined to win the 4×800 relay.

Gabe Knoblet from Shady Spring won the shot put by over six feet and David Adkins from Liberty won the discus throw.

Gerrard Wade from Bluefield entered the meet with the best long jump in Class AA. Wade not only walked out as the long jump champion Thursday, he now has the best jump in the state regardless of class, leaping 21-10.50 feet.

Nate Cook, Michael O’Sullivan, Kam Taylor and Caleb Christian from PikeView won the shuttle hurdle relay.

The 2024 Woodrow Wilson Track Hall of Fame inductees included Cherlee Thomas Street, Robert Walton Jr., Melvin “Hookie” Ross, Sr., Jamar Dunnigan, Flemmon “Cadallic” Wright, Kimberly Lynn Spales Barnes, Kea Austin, Sincere Adolfus Glenn, Nate Manns, Rev.
