CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia has scheduled public hearings regarding a proposed $71.6 million annual rate increase for customers of Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power Company.
The increase is tied to the utilities’ Expanded Net Energy Cost (ENEC) rates.

Filed in April, the proposed increase would raise the average residential customer’s bill by $5.31 per month, or approximately 3.03 percent, if approved.
A public comment hearing is set for 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 at PSC headquarters, located at 201 Brooks Street in Charleston.
An evidentiary hearing will follow at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 12 and may continue through Aug. 13.
Customers who wish to participate in the public comment hearing virtually must register with the PSC by 4 p.m. on Aug. 8. Registration is available through the Microsoft Teams link at https://bit.ly/WVPSC202508011.
