CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) has announced upcoming public comment and evidentiary hearings regarding a proposed rate increase filed by Hope Gas, Inc.
Hope Gas has requested approval for new rates, tolls, and charges for natural gas service across multiple counties in West Virginia, including Kanawha, Raleigh, Mercer, Monongalia, Harrison, and more than 35 others.
If approved, the proposed increase would generate approximately $79.6 million in additional annual revenue — a 40.95% rise from current rates.
The PSC suspended the effective date of the proposed rates until February 24, 2026, pending further review. If the rate changes are approved, they would take effect February 25, 2026.
A public comment hearing will be held both virtually and in person on November 3, 2025, at 6 p.m.at the PSC’s headquarters, located at 201 Brooks Street, Charleston.

An evidentiary hearing will follow, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on November 4, 2025, and may continue through November 6, if necessary, at the same location.
Individuals who wish to formally intervene in the case must file a petition by June 30, 2025.
