BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Beckley Sanitary Board has announced an open house workshop-style session which will see discussion regarding the Hartley Avenue/Beckley Little League/Pinecrest Stormwater Project.
The meeting, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, will be held at Room C of the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center located at 200 Armory Drive in Beckley, WV.
Set to run from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, the meeting will be open to members of the public and will discuss matters pertaining to the stormwater project, which will include stormwater and sanitary sewer improvements from Ned Payne Drive in the Pinecrest Business Park to Eisenhower Drive/Beckley Little League into the neighborhood of Hartley Avenue on Hunter Street.
The Beckley Sanitary Board has reportedly received a $1.06 million Legislative Pre-Disaster Mitigation Congressionally Directed Spending grant which will go toward completion of design and planning of the improvements through a Congressional appropriation which has received support from Senators Manchin and Capito.
Through the support of the office of Governor Jim Justice, the State of West Virginia has provided the local match for the grant funding.
The Trasher Group has reportedly been engaged by the Beckley Sanitary Board for the infrastructure design improvements. Through the open house event, property owners, community members, residents, and other interested parties will have the opportunity to meet with members of the Thrasher Group as well as Beckley Sanitary Board staff.
This will make available information pertaining to the project timeline and will provide an opportunity to offer feedback to assist with the design effort and completion of the project participation agreements.

Community input often improves project design and broadens community support and participation, which can accelerate project design, permitting and funding phases to allow quicker construction
