RAINELLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Rainelle trailhead on the Meadow River Rail Trail is now open, providing expanded access to the popular outdoor recreation corridor that stretches through Fayette and Greenbrier counties.
The Meadow River Rail Trail connects the trailheads at Nallen and Rainelle and extends more than 18 miles along the Meadow River.
The trail is open to a variety of recreational activities, including hiking, biking, horseback riding, rock climbing and skiing.
The rail trail follows the former Nicholas, Fayette, and Greenbrier Railroad, which offers users scenic views of the Meadow River and surrounding mountain landscape.
Officials hope the trail will eventually be connected to the Gauley River National Recreation Area, creating an even larger network of outdoor recreation opportunities in southern West Virginia.
The opening of the Rainelle trailhead marks another step in expanding public access to the trail and promoting tourism and outdoor recreation in the region.
