BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Commission approved a series of grants during its regular meeting Tuesday morning, supporting a range of local projects and community organizations.
Among the grants awarded was $72,650 for the Harper/Eccles sewer project, aimed at improving local infrastructure.
The Trap Hill Little League received a $10,000 grant to support youth sports activities, while Raleigh County Crime Stoppers was also awarded $10,000 to assist in its public safety efforts—matching the City of Beckley’s $10,000 grant.
Additional funding included $3,000 for the Raleigh County Special Olympics and $2,000 for Chornwood Trout Unlimited to host a veterans fishing retreat.
The commission also voted to increase the annual allocation to the WVU Extension Service to $22,000.
All funding decisions were approved unanimously.
The next Raleigh County Commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 10 a.m.
