BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Commission on Monday announced the initiation of an investigation by the commission itself into complaints regarding the Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The investigation follows a letter received by commission members from multiple Raleigh County Circuit Judges, as well as county employees. The investigation will be active alongside an investigation by the Commission of Special Investigations which was requested by the Raleigh County Commission last month during a Special Session meeting.
These investigations into the prosecuting attorney’s office will be ongoing alongside an investigation by the Office of Disciplinary Council of the West Virginia State Bar.
“The County Commission requested an investigation by the Commission of Special Investigations and are aware of an investigation by the Office of Disciplinary Council of the West Virginia State Bar. We are cooperating with each of these investigations,” said the commission in a statement. “Additionally based upon a letter received from three Raleigh County Circuit Judges and some employees, we have initiated our own investigation into these complaints as it relates to the work place.”
The commission has stated that, due to the nature of the situation as pertaining to county personnel, no additional comments or information can be provided at the time of writing.
