BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Special Meeting of the Raleigh County Commission has been announced which will pertain to employment in the Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Scheduled to be held at 9:00am on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the Special Meeting will focus on the primary agenda item included as part of the recently released meeting agenda, which pertains to a new employee in the Prosecutor’s Office: Assistant Prosecutor Tom Truman.
The Special Meeting will be the first since an August 22, 2024, meeting at which members of the commission indicated that an investigation would be launched into allegations made against Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney, Ben Hatfield. Hatfield is indicated to have since taken leave from the position as allegations are addressed.
Though speculation has been made with regard to a potential correlation between the recently announced Special Meeting and new Prosecutor’s Office employee and the ongoing situation involving Hatfield, no indication has been provided at the time of writing to confirm such suspicions.
