RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Deputies responded to a shots-fired complaint on September 18 after a woman reported hearing gunfire and rocks being thrown at her home. She told dispatchers that one of the bullets even sounded as though it passed near her head.
Cpl. R. McDaniel was first on scene and determined there was no evidence of gunfire striking the home. However, further investigation revealed the disturbance involved a crossbow and property damage.
Deputies discovered a van on the property with several shattered windows and an arrow lodged in the rear quarter panel. Witnesses said Mr. Tingler, the complainant’s husband, had shattered three windows and fired the arrow while two people stood nearby, placing them in potential danger.
The damage was estimated at about $300 per window, with additional repairs needed for the quarter panel. When Tingler returned to the scene, he admitted to shooting the arrow and showed deputies where he had left the crossbow.
The van did not display a registration plate and was too cluttered for deputies to locate a VIN number.
Charges against Tingler are pending following the incident.
