RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is in jail after kidnapping his grandson for the night and doing meth, and then sleeping in the car until the next day.
According to State Police, on Friday, February 26, 2021, at around 2:45 pm, a call from Raleigh County Emergency Operations Center came in about a kidnapping. The complainant advised that her husband, Mr. Daniel Paul Goins Jr., came by her residence in Crab Orchard and left with their grandson in her green Honda CRV to go to Lester to buy car parts they never returned. The grandmother advised that her husband did not have permission to take her grandson.
At around 4 pm, Troopers received a call from the grandmother stating that she was with her husband at the Lazzers Graphics in Crab Orchard and that her grandson was with them safely. When the trooper arrived on the scene, he placed Mr. Goins under arrest for kidnapping.
In a recorded statement, Mr. Goins admitted that he took his grandson the night before from his wife’s house and went to a friend’s house and purchased methamphetamine. Mr. Goins admitted to doing methamphetamine while he was driving around with his grandson in the vehicle. Goins stated that he and the grandson slept in the parking lot of Glens Towing and waited for them to open. He also admitted to doing methamphetamine at around 1:30 pm later in the day before the grandma found them.
Troopers requested Goins get a blood draw, which he consented to. A DRE evaluation was conducted and confirmed there was impairment.
Goins is charged with kidnapping, child abuse with risk of serious injury, capias, DUI, and shoplifting.
He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 26,500 dollar bond on several charges and no bond on one charge after violating parole.
