BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An arrest has been made in a nearly-quarter-century-old disappearance case involving the disappearance of a 10-year-old girl and her mother.
According to Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney Ben Hatfield, authorities including the FBI, West Virginia State Police, and US Marshals partook in a search of the Kyle Lane residence of Larry Webb.
A search on Webb’s home was also conducted late last year, at which time portions of wall were reportedly removed and portions of the basement area were dug up.
The series of searches pertained to August 8, 2000, disappearance of 10-year-old Natasha Carter, also known as “Alex”, and her mother, Susan.
Law enforcement officials on Tuesday returned to residence where an excavation of the yard took place in an attempt to gain information regarding the disappearance of the two females, who are said to have been residing with Webb at the time of their disappearance.
Webb was indicted by a grand jury for the murder of the juvenile, and a bullet containing the child’s DNA was reportedly recovered from the home during a search last year.
Webb was arrested this week following a search of the home, and additional details regarding the investigation are expected to emerge in the near future.
