WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Jared W. Harvey, 44, of Beaver, WV, was sentenced to one to five years for Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and one to three years for Attempt to Commit a Felony on March 26, 2025. The sentences will run consecutively. He pleaded guilty to both charges on February 4, 2025.
On May 25, 2024, Sergeant Tyler Sizemore of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department responded to a breaking and entering complaint at the Bluestone Coal K2 Coal Preparation Plant near Burke Mountain in Wyoming County. A subsequent investigation revealed an attempted theft and significant property destruction. Harvey was found in the vehicle that fled the scene and admitted his involvement in the crime.
Gregory Bishop is the Wyoming County Prosecutor. “As I have pointed out in the past, commercial theft goes beyond the loss of property and extends to financial impacts associated with salaries and production,” said Bishop. “We will continue to aggressively prosecute these crimes.”
The case was prosecuted by Derek Laxton, Wyoming County Assistant Prosecutor, before the Honorable Wyoming County Circuit Judge Josh Miller.
Sergeants Tyler Sizemore and Matthew Lane of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department investigated the crime. “Without the professional investigation conducted by Sergeants Sizemore and Lane, this conviction would not have been possible,” said Bishop.
Bishop wished to thank Derek Laxton and the entire prosecutor’s staff, along with Sergeants Sizemore and Lane of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, for their hard and thorough work.
