RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Raleigh County mother is facing multiple charges after three young children were found unsupervised outside a Glen Morgan home, including one toddler walking in the roadway.
According to authorities, the incident happened Tuesday evening, April 7, 2026, along the 100 block of Sullivan Road. Dispatchers received a welfare check after witnesses reported nearly striking a child in the road.
When troopers arrived, they found a one-year-old child in the roadway, while two other children — ages 3 and 4 — were sitting alone inside a parked vehicle. Witnesses told officers the children appeared dirty, were wearing soiled diapers, and one was seen eating uncooked ramen noodles.
Witnesses on scene said they attempted to locate a parent but received no response after knocking on the home’s door. A firefighter with the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department eventually entered the residence to check on the situation and discovered the children’s mother, identified as Nicatye Williams, asleep on a couch. The firefighter had to physically wake her to alert her that her children were outside.
Troopers conducted a protective sweep of the home and described the living conditions as “deplorable.” According to the report, officers observed what appeared to be human feces on the floor, an open oven, and generally unsanitary conditions throughout the residence.
A friend of the mother later arrived to take custody of the children and told officers all three needed diapers, as their clothing had been soiled.
Williams was taken into custody and charged with three counts of child neglect creating a risk of injury.
During an interview, Williams told officers she had little sleep the night before and had worked earlier in the day. She said she fell asleep after believing her children were either asleep or occupied, and claimed the front door had been locked. When questioned about the suspected feces inside the home, she stated it was a banana.
The incident remains under investigation.
