BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Raleigh County Parks and Recreation has been recognized for its efforts to create a healthier community as part of the 2025 Celebrating Healthy West Virginia Awards.
The awards, organized by the West Virginia Department of Health’s Bureau for Public Health and the Division of Health Promotion and Chronic Disease, highlight the work of organizations across the state that promote healthy lifestyles in their communities.
This year, 46 groups, including Raleigh County Parks and Recreation, were recognized during a ceremony at West Virginia Wesleyan University on June 6.
Raleigh County Parks and Recreation was honored for its commitment to providing opportunities for physical activity and community engagement.
The department offers parks and programs that encourage residents of all ages to stay active and connect with one another.
It also partners with groups like ACTIVE Southern West Virginia, WVU Tech, 4-H, and local schools to expand access to wellness-focused events and initiatives.
The awards ceremony was held as part of the Try This West Virginia conference and concluded with a celebratory dinner for participating organizations.
Officials say the recognition affirms Raleigh County Parks and Recreation’s mission to continue developing inclusive and healthy spaces throughout the region.
