BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Commission has officially proclaimed the second full week of April as National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week, honoring the dedicated professionals who answer emergency 911 calls and help keep the community safe.
These public safety telecommunicators are the first to respond in emergencies, working around the clock to dispatch police, firefighters, and emergency medical services.
Often working behind the scenes, they provide a calm and reassuring voice during crises, guiding callers and offering life-saving instructions before help arrives.
In a proclamation signed on April 15, 2025, the Commission, alongside the Raleigh County Emergency Services Authority, praised the commitment and sacrifice of these often-unsung heroes.
The proclamation was signed by Raleigh County Commissioners Greg Duckworth, Daniel Hall, Linda K. Epling, and Emergency Services Director John S. Zilinski.
