RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – As the new year kicks off, Raleigh County Schools has released its full January schedule of events and important dates for students and parents.
Here’s a breakdown of events happening across the secondary and elementary schools for January 2025:
District-Wide and Secondary School Events
- January 1 (Wednesday): Happy New Year! Schools remain closed for the holiday.
- January 6 (Monday): No school for students due to a Staff Professional Learning Day.
- January 7 (Tuesday): Students return from winter break.
- January 9 (Thursday): Raleigh County Elementary Spelling Bee at 9:00 AM, hosted at WWHS.
- January 10 (Friday): Raleigh County Middle School Spelling Bee at 9:00 AM, also at WWHS.
- January 16 (Thursday): The first semester and the second nine-week grading period come to a close.
- January 17 (Friday): Another Staff Professional Learning Day; no school for students.
- January 18 (Saturday): WWHS faces Greenbrier East in basketball. The event also features a ’90s Night and Past Champions Recognition ceremony.
- January 20 (Monday): Schools are closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
- January 25 (Saturday): Liberty High School hosts its annual Snowball/Winter Formal at 6:00 PM.
Elementary School Events
- January 1 (Wednesday): Schools are closed for New Year’s Day.
- January 6 (Monday): Staff Professional Learning Day; no school for students.
- January 7 (Tuesday): Students return from winter break.
- January 8 (Wednesday): Shady Spring Elementary School holds its Social Studies Fair.
- January 9 (Thursday): Raleigh County Elementary Spelling Bee at 9:00 AM at WWHS.
- January 10 (Friday): Stanford Elementary’s Social Studies Fair and Raleigh County Middle School Spelling Bee at 9:00 AM at WWHS.
- January 13 (Monday): Maxwell Hill Elementary School hosts a Social Studies Fair.
- January 14 (Tuesday): Bradley Elementary begins its D.A.R.E. program.
- January 16 (Thursday): The first semester and the second nine-week grading period end. Additionally:
- Stanford Elementary holds a 5th-grade parent meeting.
- The Regional Science Fair takes place at Chuck Mathena Center in Princeton, WV.
- January 17 (Friday): Staff Professional Learning Day; no school for students.
- January 24 (Friday):
- Coal City Elementary hosts a Jump Rope for Heart Assembly.
- Stanford Elementary organizes a PBIS Painting Party.
- January 25 (Saturday): Stanford Elementary’s K-2 Winter Wonderland Dance.
- January 28 (Tuesday): Shady Spring Elementary School holds a PK-2nd Grade Math Family Night from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
- January 30 (Thursday): Shady Spring Elementary School holds a 3rd-5th Grade Math Family Night from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
