SHADY SPRING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office has announced it will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 6 p.m. to midnight on U.S. Route 19 in the Shady Spring area.
Officials say the checkpoint will be located outside of the active construction zone to avoid congestion and ensure the safety of motorists.

The checkpoint is part of a state-funded initiative through the West Virginia Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention.
In addition to checking for impaired drivers, deputies will also be verifying vehicle registration, insurance, and occupant safety compliance.
The sheriff’s office reminds the public: “If you drive while impaired, you will go to jail.”
