LESTER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Coal City woman is charged with a shooting that killed a man back in February.
According to Raleigh County Deputies, Valerie Ann Ayers shot and killed Willie Deontae Acord in Lester back on February 1, 2021. Deputies say that an altercation broke out between Valerie Ayers, Willie Acord, and Michael Lytton on the front porch of Lytton’s home. During the fight, Micahel and Deontae went to the ground, and Michael placed Deontae in a rear chokehold, and a gun went off, striking Deontae in the back, resulting in his death.
Deputies were able to review the video camera on the property, but the fight happened out of the video range. Audio from the camera could still be heard, and deputies could hear Valerie saying, “I am going to rip your ‘explicit’ nose off,” followed by, “look, I’m about to pistol whip the ‘explicit’ out of you.” Immediately following, you could hear the Deontae say, “I’m done, I’ve been shot.”
During the investigation, it was revealed that Valerie had the firearm in her hands when it was discharged, but the gun belongs to Deontae.
Valerie Ayers is charged with involuntary manslaughter.
