RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Raleigh County mother is charged with child neglect after she overdosed and drug needles were in reach of her small child.
According to West Virginia State Police, on Friday, February 16, 2024, troopers were dispatched to a home in Beaver regarding an overdose. When troopers arrived, they were met by a witness who said Lynsi Burnett was unconscious. EMS administered Naloxone, which made Burnett coherent.
The witness advised that once Burnett was coherent, she brought her two-year-old child to her. There was drug paraphernalia and several used needles within reach of the child.
When speaking to Burnett, she told troopers that she had used Fentanyl earlier in the day. She then began to be uncooperative and hostile with troopers. Burnett allegedly kept refusing police orders and had to be handcuffed.
Burnett is charged with child neglect and obstructing an officer. She is being held in Southern Regional Jail under a 10,000 dollar bond.
