CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Republican voter registration in West Virginia has reached a record milestone, surpassing 500,000 registered voters for the first time, according to the West Virginia Republican Party.
“West Virginians are joining the Republican Party by the thousands each month,” said Chairman Josh Holstein.

“The people of our state know that Republican values are West Virginia values and that’s why our party now has over half a million members and continues to grow exponentially.“
Voter registration data shows a major political shift in the state over the past nine years.
In November 2016, Republicans numbered 398,547 registered voters, trailing Democrats’ 571,267 by more than 172,000.
As of the most recent report, Republicans total 500,858, leading Democrats, who have 334,253, by 166,605.
The new figures also show Webster County has switched to a Republican plurality, leaving five counties in West Virginia with more registered Democrats than Republicans.
“We welcome every new Republican as we continue to build a stronger, more prosperous West Virginia,” Holstein said.
