UPDATE: MT. HOPE, (LOOTPRESS) – RetroReset Video Games and Collectibles confirmed their next upcoming meet and greet guest to be none other than Ron Simmons aka Faarooq.
Wednesday’s teaser hints, which indicated that the next guest would be a superstar that wrestled for both WCW and WWE, is a multi-time champion and multi-time Hall of Fame inductee, and was part of two of the biggest wrestling factions in history.
While followers placed their bets on Sean Waltman aka X-Pac, but we’re thrown for a loop with the announcement of the APA brawler’s scheduled appearance.
Early highlights of Simmons’ career include Consensus All-American honors in 1979 and 1980 for his college football career at Florida State University, where his jersey (number 50) was retired in 1988.
Being selected ninth in the 1981 NFL Draft, Simmons briefly for played the Cleveland Browns and the Tampa Bay Bandits before pursuing a career in professional wrestling.
During his time in WCW Simmons had notable success including time as a Tag Team Champion and a victory over Big Van Vader to become the first African American World Heavyweight Champion in WCW history.
Simmons spent time at ECW and New Japan before joining the ranks of WWE (then-WWF) to soon become the leader of the Nation of Domination faction, in which he would later feud with up-and-coming star The Rock.
He then began teaming with future WWE Champion Bradshaw, with whom he would partner for years to come.
Starting as the Acolytes before joining The Undertaker’s Ministry of Darkness, and eventually becoming the APA or Acolytes Protection Agency. The team would have multiple Tag Team Title runs and would become one of the most legitimately feared workers in the business, known for aggressive, no-nonsense style of competing.
Simmons was inducted by his partner into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012.
He will make his appearance at RetroReset on July 8, 2023, with additional details regarding pricing and ticket sales expected to emerge in time.

MT. HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The announcement just keep coming from the good folks at RetroReset Video Games and Collectibles, who challenged social media followers Wednesday to guess the identity of their next meet and greet guest.
With iconic wrestling superstars such as Billy Gunn, Mick Foley, and Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake having been announced in the span of just one month, the next guest announcement is already on the way.
The guest is set to be announced on Thursday, with hints provided by RetroReset indicating that this superstar wrestled for both WCW and WWE, is a multi-time champion and multi-time Hall of Fame inductee, and perhaps most notably, was part of two of the biggest wrestling factions in history.
With mention of “two of the biggest factions in history,” many followers’ minds went to NWO and D-Generation X. This prompted several guesses of Sean Waltman, also known as X-Pac, 1-2-3 Kid, Syxx, and Syxx Pac.
Waltman is recognized by WWE as having been the only wrestler to be a member of both the NWO and D-Generation X during the factions’ respective peak periods in the 90s.
Additionally, Waltman has won several championships over the course of his career, including a number of tag-team and cruiserweight championship reigns. He was also the final superstar to have held the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship prior to its being retired in favor of the Cruiserweight Championship.
What’s more, Waltman is the only wrestler to have been indicted two years in a row into the WWE Hall of Fame – in 2019 as a member of D-Generation X and in 2020 as a member of the NWO.
While X-Pac is arguably the most likely superstar to have been booked and to meet the above criteria, some guesses were also cast for 16-time Heavyweight Champion “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, who was a member of The Four Horsemen in Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling and WCW, and later Evolution in WWE.
The big reveal is expected to occur later today, and LOOTPRESS will provide updates once details becomes known.
