SANDSTONE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A longtime staple of the Sandstone community is making a comeback this April, thanks to new owner Crystal Richmond.
The former convenience store, which closed in January after years of serving the area, will reopen as Sandstone Landings General Store, offering fuel, groceries, and a welcoming space for locals and travelers alike.
Sandstone General Store announces closure of storefront
Richmond, a longtime Summers County resident, is leaving behind a 12-year teaching career to pursue her dream of running a family business.
“I live here in Sandstone and know how big a part of Sandstone the store is to the people that live here,” she said. “My family and friends have been instrumental in helping to get the store remodeled and ready to reopen.”
The store’s reopening has been met with excitement, as it has long been a vital part of the community, providing food, gas, and everyday essentials.
Richmond has been working hard to give the store a fresh look while maintaining its original charm.
“We have remodeled parts of the store and added some updates,” she explained. “We kept the look of the old hardwood floors but sanded them and sealed them to freshen them up. We have a new coffee and breakfast bar with additional seating for the restaurant side of the store.”
Beyond aesthetic improvements, Sandstone Landings General Store will feature brand-new fuel pumps installed by RT Rogers, a propane filling station, and an evolving inventory tailored to community needs.
“I have been working with distributors to build our store inventory to hopefully match the needs of our community,” Richmond said. “Inventory will grow in the first few months of being open.”
For those familiar with the previous store, some noticeable differences will include an updated interior, new kitchen equipment, and changes in inventory selection.
Richmond hopes to create a welcoming stop for both locals and travelers.
“We hope to make it a nice pit stop for people traveling through, but also meet the needs of the locals that just need somewhere to pick up basic necessities without traveling farther away to get them,” she said.
With a renewed vision and a commitment to serving the community, Sandstone Landings General Store is set to become a go-to destination once again.
Richmond and her family says they are eager to welcome customers and continue the store’s legacy in Sandstone.
