Woodrow Wilson 3, Bridgeport 2
Bridgeport – Coby Dillon scored two goals Saturday to lead Woodrow Wilson to a 3-2 win over Bridgeport for its second triumph in a row.
A.J. Bishop also had a goal and Michael Fayiah had two assists. Bryson Doss recorded six saves for the Flying Eagles.
Woodrow Wilson (2-1-2) hosts Charleston Catholic Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Shady Spring 8, Bluefield 0
Micah Smith (9,48, 58) and Nathan Vecellio (35, 51, 61) each recorded a hat trick Saturday afternoon to lead Shady Spring past Bluefield 8-0 at H.B. Thomas Field.
Evan Rivera (18) and Gage Lemley (32) also found the back of the net for the Tigers.
Vecellio had two assists, while Rivera, Jorge Lobato, Luke Mackay and Trace Lilly each had one assist.
Shady Spring (3-1-1) hosts sectional rival PikeView Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Cross Country
Salem, Va. – The Greenbrier East girls cross country team finished ninth among 38 teams at the prestigious Knights Crossing Cross Country Meet which is billed at the biggest on the East Coast.
The event included teams from Virginia, North Carolina and West Virginia.
Spartan standout Neena McClintic finished eighth overall in the girls race which included 331 runners.
On the boys side, Shady Spring ran 18th overall in a field of 57 teams.
