MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Friday night search warrant executed in McDowell County uncovered a stash of drugs, firearms, and evidence of a suspected drug distribution operation at a residence on Bull Creek Road.
According to law enforcement, around 7:55 p.m. on April 25, 2025, a McDowell County Sheriff’s Sergeant and Deputy Cline searched a home at 2326 Bull Creek Road. Inside the master bedroom and kitchen areas, deputies discovered multiple substances believed to be methamphetamine, heroin, and suboxone—along with drug paraphernalia, scales, cutting agents, plastic baggies, and even a body wire detector.
Officers also found five handguns, including a Glock 9mm and a .38 Special, stored in an open lock box in the master bedroom closet. Investigators say two individuals at the scene—identified in the report as Bridgette Spencer and a man referred to as Mr. Vernatter—are both convicted felons prohibited from possessing firearms.
Spencer allegedly told officers that the bedroom belonged to Vernatter and claimed that the drugs and weapons were his. She also admitted to witnessing Vernatter sell controlled substances and stated that she was staying in the residence with him.
Authorities say the evidence strongly indicates the pair were involved in a drug distribution operation. Charges are being pursued for possession with intent to deliver, maintaining a dwelling for drug sales, conspiracy, and firearm possession by prohibited persons.
Vernatter was arrested at the scene and transported to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office for processing. A warrant for Spencer’s arrest is being requested. The investigation remains ongoing.
