Oak Hill 13, Greenbrier East 2
Fairlea – One night after beating No. 2 seed Beckley on the road, No. 3 seed Oak Hill took down No. 1 Greenbrier East 13-2 at Spartan Yards.
Owen Grose did the big damage at the dish with a double, a single and five RBI to lead the Red Devils who advance to the championship round starting Friday.
Trent Rider had a double as part of his two-hits night and also drove drove in two runs.
Aiden Smith picked up the win on the hill going six-and-a-third innings, allowing two hits, two runs and striking out six Spartans.
Greenbrier East will host Beckley Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. in an elimination game. The winner must beat Oak Hill twice for the sectional title, while the Red Devils need only one more win to advance to the regional round.
PikeView 6, Bluefield 3
Gardner – PikeView took a 6-0 lead and held off Bluefield for a 6-3 win to open Class AA Region 3, Section 1 play.
Eli Hilling pitched six innings to get the win allowing only one hit and striking out 10 batters.
Drew Damewood and Sammy Lyle had two RBI each, while Lyle and Jared Vestal both collected two hits.
No. 1 seed PikeView will now host No. 3 seed Westside Thursday, while No. 4 Bluefield will battle No. 2 seed Wyoming East in an elimination game the same day.
Beckley 8, Princeton 1
The Flying Eagles scored three runs in the first inning and cruised past Princeton 8-1 Wednesday in a Class AAA Region 3, Section 2 elimination game.
Beckley will now travel to Fairlea Thursday to battle longtime rival Greenbrier East in a win or go home game.
Maddex Sims led the Beckley crew with three hits, including a double, and one RBI. Isaiah Lewis also had a double and an RBI for the Flying Eagles.
Andrew Gallaher recorded the win allowing no runs and only two hits over four-and-two-thirds innings of work.
