Clear Fork – Carli Raye fired a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts to lead Wyoming East past Westside in a Class AA Region 3, Section 1 elimination game.
The Warriors will face No. 1 seed Bluefield Thursday needing two wins over the Beavers for the sectional title.
Cadence Clay did the work at the plate with three hits, including a double, and four RBI. Makinlei Hatfield added a double, a single and two RBI.
Olivia Vint had two RBI with Alivia Monroe and Kendra Cook collecting two hits each.
Independence 3, Nicholas County 1
The Patriots scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and made it stand in a 3-1 win over Nicholas County in a Class AA Region 3, Section 2 elimination game in Coal City.
Independence advances to play Shady Spring Thursday night needing two wins over the Tigers for the sectional title.
Ava Parks, Emma Lilly and Keandra Spurlock all had one hit and one RBI for Indy. Kenzie Pierce pitched a complete game allowing only four hits. The only run surrendered was a solo blast to Bethany Butcher.
