SHADY SPRING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Shady Spring High School has announced plans to host a modified take on the school’s annual Homecoming Parade event this Friday.
The announcement comes in the wake of several cancelations last week as storms coming on the heels of Hurricane Helene created issues for multiple scheduled and rescheduled iterations of the annual event.
The newly announced modified Homecoming Parade will see members of Homecoming Court as well as fall sports teams and parade Grand Marshal, Ms. Ruth Vest Meadows, parading around the Shady Spring High track at 6:00pm on Friday.
Class floats originally intended to be included as part of the parade will reportedly be on display beside the concession stand to be observed as part of the event.
“We understand this isn’t the outcome many were hoping for, but due to scheduling conflicts, a traditional parade just isn’t possible this year,” said Shady Spring High in a statement. “We appreciate your understanding and look forward to bringing back the full parade next year!”
It has also been indicated that Homecoming Parade Grand Marshal, Ms. Ruth Vest Meadows will be returning as Grand Marshal for the 2025 iteration of the parade, “to receive her proper recognition.”
