SHADY SPRING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Shady Spring Homecoming Parade and football game set to take place on Friday have been rescheduled due to increasingly extreme weather conditions in the Raleigh County area.
Originally scheduled for Thursday evening, the Shady Spring Homecoming Parade was rescheduled for Friday due to similar conditions which appear to show no signs of slowing down as many parts of the country are seeing the effects of Hurricane Helene.
The announcement of the subsequent postponement came late Friday morning and cited severe weather conditions, debris, the safety of all participants, and flooding in Mercer County as points of consideration in the school’s decision to reschedule homecoming proceedings.
The Homecoming football game scheduled for Friday night has been postponed to Saturday at 12:00pm noon, while the Homecoming Parade has been postponed to an as of yet undetermined date.
“We are working to reschedule the parade and will share updated details as soon as they are available,” said Shady Spring High School in a statement. “We understand this is disappointing, especially during Homecoming Week, but the safety of our students and community members is our top priority. Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to seeing everyone at H.B. Thomas Field tomorrow to cheer on the Tigers!”
