SHADY SPRING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Shady Spring High School Homecoming Parade scheduled to take place on Thursday has been rescheduled due to reported extreme weather conditions.
The announcement came late Thursday morning after Shady Spring High School successfully finalized the scheduling change with the West Virginia Division of Highways. The newly rescheduled event is set to occur at 5:00pm on Friday, September 27, 2024, with lineup beginning at 4:00pm at Shady Spring Middle School and following the originally planned parade route.
The parade will be led by members of the Shady Spring football team, band, and cheerleaders to ensure these students have ample time to return and prepare themselves for the scheduled Homecoming football game.
These changes will also result in a delay in kickoff for the matchup, which will now take place at 7:30pm. The high school extended its gratitude to the coaching staff and administration at Pikeview High School for exhibiting flexibility and cooperation in the face of the last-minute adjustments.
The school also issued gratitude to students, families, and members of the general public for their understanding with regard to the matter, as well as to the Division of Highways for their support.
“We appreciate our patience as we finalized these changes and want to give special thanks to the Department of Highways for their support in helping us adjust the schedule to prioritize the safety of our students and community members.
