BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Dozens of Raleigh County residents made their way out to the new Shady Spring Senior Center on Thursday for the establishment’s grand opening ceremony.
In attendance for the event were members of the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, as well as an array of local residents – many of them senior citizens themselves.
“Today’s our grand opening and we’re going to do a ribbon cutting,” said Shady Spring Senior Center Committee member, Ruth Meadows. “We’re going to be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00pm until 2:00pm, and later on, we may even be able to open it up more days. So, we welcome everybody. Thank you!”
Located at 159 Granby Circle in Beaver, the establishment is now one of the organizations operating from the rear section of the School of Harmony building.
The center, which will open two days a week, will offer a variety of activities for those who come out, along with drinks and snacks.
The idea for Shady Spring Senior Center was proposed late last year, and came to fruition this week, providing an outlet for socialization and camaraderie amongst senior citizens throughout the area.
