BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – While the official beginning of summer is still two weeks away, the summer 2024 season for New River Park kicked off on Tuesday as the Sharon Dempsey Memorial Pool opened its doors to guests for the first time this year.
The pool opened at 11:00am for a free swim day for guests ages 18 and under to kick off the season.
Members of the community made their way out to take advantage of the offer, as well as the weather conditions on what proved to be an appropriately sunny 82 degree afternoon.
The New River Park/Sharon Dempsey Memorial Pool is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 to 6:00pm.
Children ages four and under will receive free admission. Pool passes will not be available this year, according to the City of Beckley.
