LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) will open its Clingman Center today at 1 p.m. as a shelter for area residents threatened by flood waters in the region.
The Clingman Center, located at 18 U.S. 219, Lewisburg, near Amy’s Market in the Montwell Commons, will provide a safe, dry and warm location with access to internet, food and beverages.
WVSOM, through its Center for Community and Rural Health, and in partnership with Rainelle Medical Center (RMC), will operate the shelter with a staff of volunteers being organized by WVSOM’s Drema Hill, Vice President of Community Engagement and Chief Operations Officer, and RMC’s Jennifer Crane, PRSS.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Greenbrier River at Alderson until 5 a.m. Monday.
