HURRICANE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A shirtless and reportedly intoxicated man was arrested after causing a chaotic scene at two local businesses on Teays Valley Road Thursday, June 19, 2025.
Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a disturbance at First Settlement Physical Therapy and a neighboring salon, where the suspect—identified as Lawrence Young—was seen yelling, throwing rocks, damaging property, and harassing staff and customers.
Witnesses told deputies that Young entered both establishments, where he made inappropriate sexual remarks, quoted scripture loudly, and physically confronted staff members.
“He was acting completely out of control,” one witness said. “He wouldn’t leave no matter how many times we told him.”
Young also reportedly tore down signs and damaged landscaping outside the businesses before deputies arrived and detained him. Once in custody, he became combative, refusing to enter the patrol vehicle and repeatedly pulling away. Deputies warned him about the use of pepper spray, at which point Young briefly complied.
While deputies collected witness statements, Young began slamming his head against the bars inside the cruiser, causing a laceration above his eye. When officers attempted to stop him and regain control, he again refused to cooperate, eventually rolling himself out of the car and onto the pavement, further injuring himself.
Deputies were ultimately forced to use pepper spray to subdue him. Young was treated for his injuries and is now facing multiple charges, including public intoxication, disorderly conduct, destruction of property, and assault.
Young was arrested back in May for blaming Meth on why he attacked a Chinese Food Delivery Driver.
